Photo Birth Announcements

One of my friends gave birth the other week and soon we’ll be attending another Christening. Hubby and I have been thinking about what to give to the baby so I thought of creating photo birth announcements instead. As you all know, I am into digital scrapbooking and I have been designing my own kits so this is not going to be a problem. In fact, last month, I created the Christening invitation of my niece, Bethany -  Iris’ daughter :) . I don’t think I have ever posted it here so take a look.

Isn’t it more appealing than ordinary photo announcements? For this particular invitation, I made use of my kit, Little Ones – a kit I made specifically for baby photos and other baby digital scrapbook stuffs. I had fun creating the kit and am sure I will have tons more when I started re-layouting the baby photos of my twins. I was procrastinating the album because I was not very happy about the outcome before. However, now that I have learned more about the styles, techniques and other stuffs of a layout, I will be more proud about my new baby album. I am so looking forward to it :)

Kids First Movie – Ironman 2

It was very unexpected! We went to the mall to get some vitamins and bring the kids to the playroom but unfortunately – the 2 playrooms in Robinson’s Galleria have closed out and we didn’t want to take our chances and transfer to Megamall because it sure is really crowded there. The husband and I decided to take the kids into the Cinema and see if they will be allowed to watch Ironman 2. To our surprise, they were! Whew – their first movie was Ironman 2!

Yes, this is their very first movie. We haven’t brought them to cinemas because they keep telling us they are afraid of the dark and you know how dark it is in movie houses. Fortunately, the girls sat tight while eating their popcorn. The only problem we had was – they wanted to get in and out of the washroom. I was so lucky to bring their aunt with us LOL! She was the one taking care of the washroom calls.

Generally, the kids may not have enjoyed the movie – it wasn’t meant for little girls so it was expected. However, they are now looking forward for Shrek! We never knew they would happen to like movies in big screen after all! Oh we have to be prepared because soon – it will not just be me and hubby. The kids will surely tag along next time.

Skin Diseases

It was one of my problems when I was younger. My father had a history of skin disease and I remember he was given some eczema treatment before. I never really knew if it was really like that. You know the oldies – they tend to talk to a lot of items without really knowing what it is.

Having skin problems when I was young was really a pain and I dealt with a lot of frustration. I never wanted to go to my P.E. class because I would have to wear my bloomers and I am very ashamed that people will see my scars. I used to live in the province and I have gotten a lot of scars from playing, going to the farm, etc. It was a thing that I never wanted to recall and would never want my kids to experience.

And now that my little girls are turning 5 and getting naughtier than ever – I became so strict when it comes to taking care of their skins. My daughters have a fair complexion but despite that, I wanted them to continue having good skin. I know they will thank me in the future. I would always tell them to protect their knees and elbows. Be careful when playing so as not to get hurt and wounded. I have always been very keen when they have rashes or anything that is unnatural for their skin. Who knows it could develop to something worse. I never want that to happen and protection is always the best.

Moms will do a lot of things for their children – being paranoid included!

The Smoking Grandpa

When my kids are in my parents’ place – you will often hear me complaining to my father. He’s a chain smoker and I hate seeing him smoke when the kids are there. Primarily – my daughters are very sensitive when it comes to dust and smoke and so I wanted him to understand that it isn’t something to be taken lightly.

He have personally witnessed the very fragile situation that my daughters went through and he was able to undo his habit back then. And now, he went back to what he used to be – a chain smoker. I never really liked being around him because of passive smoking and I do not want my kids to suffer the same. I wonder when he will stop. Hmm – I saw something on the net about electronic cigarettes but really not sure how it functions or if it does have the effect of the regular cigarettes. I might probably have to check it out and see.

If this innovation is a healthier version of the old cigarettes, I will be very much willing to share this information to him. For now, I only have a few reviews about it but I will have my own research. I wanted to check on this personally. I know my father would hate me for asking him to stop smoking but if I can have something to replace that, I know he’ll give it up – just like the time when I am always bring home candy substitutes for cigars. He liked it.

Bad Breath on Children

I have always thought it was impossible for kids to have bad breath. I guess I was mistaken. When the kids started having teeth at 3 months, I was very excited and proud. I never knew that the early they came out, the worst they could get for being exposed to milk. Yes, the babies’ milk that is often taken during sleep time contributes to the early deterioration of teeth in children. At least, some dentists I have asked told me.

I have always believed that I could trust everything to my mom and the helpers when I am out to work. My mom is also busy in the bakery and there are times that the kids are left alone with the nannies – who sometimes forgot to brush their teeth. Now, my kids no longer have front teeth, they were all deteriorated and it reached to a point that Scieszka needs to be hospitalized because of the infection brought about by one of her deteriorated tooth.

I already thought that was the worst, there is something more. She now even has bad breath and I needed to personally tend to her during brush time to make sure she’ll learn how to properly brush her teeth. I am wondering if there is a  treatment for bad breath on kids? The past few days, her breath seems to be a little good. I just hope that when I am out and I need to work, the people left at home will not forget about my instructions, particularly about the kids.
