Kids grow up so fast these days. In the blink of an eye, they go from toddler to tween, to teen. You sometimes feel that you hardly know them anymore. If you feel you must reconnect and catch up on each other’s lives, you could still do that, even with your busy schedules.
If you have younger kids, you can play a board game with them after a hard day’s work. If your kids happen to be a little older, you could play their favorite video games with them.
Try to listen to music together. This means, your Hannah Montana wannabe must take off her headphones and start sharing with you her love for music. Learn what type of music they like, and play it in the background as you have dinner together. If you have preschoolers at home, they would love it if you danced around the living room with them.
It’s not hard to touch base with your kids. All it takes is a good 15-30 minutes each day.

I am experiencing this now. I have an 11 yr.old, a 6 yr.old and a 4 yr.old. I bond with them differently. With my eldest, our bonding activities are computer games and playstation games. It’s a good thing that his Mom, like him, loves to shoot zombies. My second, she loves the art. So our bonding activities includes drawings and colorings. And my youngest, well, he’s still discovering his passion. Our bonding time at the moment is watching Nickelodeon.
