Getting the Kids to Like Books

When did you start showing books to your child? Are you reading them stories even when they are still babies? Do you just love giving them coloring books?

As early as when my daughters are able to sit, I started showing them books with different shapes, numbers, colors, everything. At 3 months, they started watching baby shows like Brainy Baby and Little Einsteins. They were very educational I must say. When the kids turned 1, I started giving them coloring books. We also gave them non-toxic crayons that they can play along with those books. At first, they just color the whole page and nothing comes much out of it but you know as they learned each shape, they started copying the drawings and then later, we realized they were able to properly color the pictures.

We then started giving them number books. And thought them how to count. They learned to count until 100 at the age of 2. I really couldn’t believe how they did it but they just did. Of course, it wouldn’t be possible without guidance. We just give them more and more things that will give them motivation to continue learning.

Are you having a difficult time getting your child to like books? Here are some tips:

1. Get their interest – don’t just give them anything. If they don’t like it at first it doesn’t mean they will not like it forever. Think of what the child like at present and start building rapport with your child.

2. Studying should be a habit – in my opinion, studying should be a habit. It should not be a task. Learn how to deal with your child’s study habits and try helping them in every way possible. Do not just command them to do it.

3. Be supportive – your child will even love what he/she is doing if you are there to guide them.

Hope this helps.

SAHM Wannabe

I am still dreaming! Of what?

I was at work today and I am feeling kind of tired and irritated. I just felt tired, with everything. Guess I am once again losing the momentum and thought that I will forever be a working mom if running through my brains again.

Oh well, I am still up today and while I was browsing a site about mesothelioma lawyer, I came across some sites that offer home-based work and now, (again) I am contemplating on whether I should just stay at home or continue being a career woman. I am sure this matter will take some time because I need to consult hubby about it. It’s not just a matter or leaving a cup of coffee for a cup of chocolate. We have a family to consider and the future of the kids are at stake too so this will surely be tough.

I just wish I’d have a good business I can take care of so I won’t have to worry about the finances. I can still dream! Who knows, it might come try some day.

More Moms Looking for Work

I have always been a working mom. When it was time for me to bow out of my job 3 years ago and tender the kids, it was hard – financially speaking. If it was just for mere reason of staying at home and being with the kids, it will not even be a bother to both of us. But a lot of things must be considered and we made the decision that I should work again.

It was not just me, nowadays, more and more mommies are looking for work. Whether it is a corporate job or an online job, a mom should always find a way to support his husband and be able to provide for the family. As you know, a mom always finds a way.

When I was job searching 3years ago, I looked at almost all the job sites I find in the internet. If you want to work in the US, you should try job search pa. But wait, mommies who wanted to stay at home should try these too – elance, odesk. They are quite helpful if you really just want to be at home and stay with your kids. The compensation is not as modest as that of the corporate office might be paying you but you won’t have a boss yelling beside you every time. LOL!

Good luck on your job hunt!

Family Vacation

Hubby and I have long been wanting to have a vacation with our daughters. We’ve worked hard over the past years, got our own house and now a car. We just felt that it’s about time for us to take a break, relax and just be with the kids.

This year, it is one of our goals to be achieved and as is, we wanted everything to go smooth and make sure that the girls will enjoy. And that is why are eyes are set on Disney vacations. We are so sure that they will both love to be at Disneyland and to meet the characters they have been watching.

Hubby happened to have a cousin in Hongkong and I think it’ll be a great opportunity to see each other again. As I am writing this, I am getting even more excited. To be honest, I have never been been to Disneyland myself and I could possibly be just as excited as the girls seeing Mickey and Minnie. It’s a good thing we have a good camera to capture everything.

Now for the plans, we have to file for our vacation leaves in advance so our teams and projects will be able to make plans and coverage while we are both out. I think I will be having the most difficult time here since I am a one-man team and I still need to train and get someone who will be capable enough to cover all my tasks while I am out and unreachable.

Airfare and accommodations – we can always scout for some good offers by our local Airlines and check the internet for deals. Just you wait, Disney!
