Hepatitis-A Vaccine

The kids had their first dose last October 2008. It was actually already delayed because we had to consider the vaccine priorities and since Hepatitis can be avoided, we opted to get the vaccines for MRR instead.

And so, the second dose was scheduled this month and we were about to go to the doctor today but then, it’s raining. And because we don’t have a car (yet) and I can’t bear carrying the kids under the rain. It is just simply difficult for us to commute. I decided, to re-schedule the vaccine this coming Wednesday. Gosh, I hope my mom will be available to accompany the kids to the doctor.

Vaccines are still important and as we all know, though Hepatitis can be avoided, we won’t be on a 24-hour monitoring system to ensure our kids eat the right stuff. For now, I can because they are at home. Next year, they will go to school and will be exposed to everything. Just making sure they are protected.

  2. hepatitis virus is usually carried by blood with the exception of Hepatitis A virus which can be acquired through contaminated food. I am particulary concerned about the local barbershop who does not properly sterilize the hair cutting tools and shaving tools. Razor blades which come in contact with infected blood can transmit the virus in the next customer.
